Jamaica Moves Dinner - Delicious And Healthy
Jamaica Moves , the physical activity campaign officially launched last Friday by the Ministry of Health is one which will act as an active response to the dangerously high instances of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country.
Part of this campaign seeks to set up a 'lead by example' component and as such, Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton, and the Ministry of Health team have identified and selected persons to take part in a 'Get Moving Challenge'. This challenge will run for four weeks, and the aim is to track each challengers' progress on both traditional and new media. Each challenger was given a FitBit, which is a physical activity tracker designed to help one become more active, eat a more well-rounded diet and sleep better.
Last Thursday, Minister Tufton hosted a small, intimate dinner for the challengers and important stakeholders in the campaign. There, he not only wined and dined his guests, but spoke to the purpose of the challenge, and what was expected of each challenger. The first set of challengers are an even mixture of politicians, social media and traditional media personalities, members of corporate Jamaica, entertainers and the Health Minister himself.
