Last week, 14 prominent members of the private and public sector started taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle in the 'Get Moving Challenge'. Get Moving is a part of the Ministry of Health's Jamaica Moves initiative.
Jamaica Moves was launched earlier this month by the Ministry of Health and other private and public sector partners. Jamaica Moves is a national physical activity and nutrition change agenda to educate individuals on the risk factors associated with Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), in an effort to encourage them to lead healthier lives. The programme will also focus on building supportive environments to facilitate increased physical activity and proper nutrition.
'Get Moving' will challenge these 14 individuals to lead by example and commit to 10,000 documented steps per day over the next four weeks. The programme is designed to use influencers to encourage Jamaicans to get moving, using the power of friendly competition as motivation.
