4 Ways to Stay Healthy and Strengthen Your Immune System

The World is experiencing a global pandemic and we all have a role to play in keeping ourselves healthy!

With that in mind, Jamaica Moves wishes to remind you that you can Be Your Own Hero,

by staying healthy and boosting your immune system.

 

 

Here are 4 ways to stay healthy and boost your immune system:

 

1. Exercise. 

Exercise is an excellent way to maintain a robust and functioning immune system, as well as to keep NCDs and other diseases at bay. It helps to increase the heart rate and helps with blood circulation. The great thing about exercise is that you can do it at home - or anywhere. Try walking around, dancing, skipping, or even gardening.  

 

 

 

 

2. Eat healthy.

Healthy eating is key to good health all the time. And it is especially recommended in times like these where people’s immune systems may become compromised. Drink plenty of water. And remember to eat lots of whole vegetables and fruits as this allows you to get the nutrients your body needs such as vitamins and minerals.

3. Get some sleep.

 

Another important part of staying healthy is getting adequate sleep. Some doctors and scientists recommend no less than 6 hours of sleep every night - it helps the immune system to function properly. 

 

 

4. Practise healthy behaviours.

 

This includes:

(1) Practising good hygiene such as washing your hands with soap and water

(2) Not smoking tobacco or overindulging in alcohol and

(3) reducing or avoiding stress.
